Odisha FC vs Northeast United, Indian Super League 2020-21, Match Prediction 

 


Out-of-form Odisha FC faces fourth-placed Northeast United in the Tuesday encounter of the Indian Super League 2020-21. Odisha FC has lost five matches from six matches, while Northeast United has retained the fourth spot despite losing the previous game. 


Team Preview 

Northeast United would take on Odisha FC in the Tuesday night ISL clash. The Highlanders faced its first defeat of the season and lost the opportunity to take the second spot. 

Jamshedpur spoiled its party with a clinical victory last week. The Red Miners dominated Highlanders in the first half but couldn’t add the goal on the scoresheet. In the 53rd minute, Aniket Jadhav scored the first goal for Jamshedpur. Northeast got a golden chance to equalizer when Stephen Eze brought down Benjamin Lambot, and Highlanders were awarded a penalty. Goalkeeper Rehenesh made a brilliant save to stop Idrissa Sylla to score. 

Northeast tried a lot in the last few minutes but couldn’t break the deadlock of Jamshedpur. Gurjinder Singh and Benjamin Lambot played long passes, and it exposed its dependency on Idrissa Sylla and Kwesi Appiah. Gerard Nus would aim to find three points to boost the points table game. 

On the other hand, Odisha had a disappointing season with five defeats out of six matches, and with one point, they take the bottom of the table. Odisha FC lost to Sunil Chhetri’s Bengaluru in a previous encounter at Bambolim. In the early first-half, their one goal was canceled out as the assistant referee raised his flag for off-side. Sunil Chhetri scored the opening goal and provided early lead to Blues in the first half. 

In the second half, Odisha FC found the equalizer by creating enough pressure on Bengaluru’s forward-line. Steven Taylor scored the goal on a free-kick. Odisha FC lost the opportunity and Udanta Singh, and Deshorn Brown set up Cleiton Silva for a winning goal. 

Steven Taylor was the only player who shined in the previous match. He scored a goal and led the defense to avoid scoring from, Bengaluru. Both sides faced four times in Indian Super League, and two times, Northeast had the last laugh. Odisha FC has defeated Northeast in its most recent outing 2-1, thanks to Martin Perez’s strike.

  Two South Indian clubs, Chennai and Bengaluru, square off in the Friday encounter of Indian Football League 2020-21 . The irony is that both sides are entering into this encounter with a goalless draw in the previous outing.
