Two semfinalists of the season 2019-20, Goa and Bengaluru square off in the Sunday encounter of Indian Football League 2020-21 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda. 

Team Preview 

Goa had a tremendous season with Sergio Lobera who joined Mohun B. for new season. Goa lost only three games out of 18 and entered into the playoffs with 39 points. Finishing higher in the table, Goa won the Shield trophy. In the semi-final clash, Chennai edged past them with 6-5 aggregate success. Juan Ferrando would have a big pressure to take the team this time closer to the title. 

Goa and Bengaluru faced each other seven times in India’s top-flight and Bengaluru had the laugh five times. In last edition, Sunil Chhetri guided Bengaluru to a 2-1 victory at home with a barce and in second game, Goa held them for a 1-1- draw at home courtesy of Coro’s equaliser.  

Edu Bedia and Lenny Rodrigues have a big responsibility in mid-feild along with Seriton Fernandes. Saviour Gama can replace Mandar Rao Dessai at left-back. Ivan Gonzalez and James Donachie will lead at center-back. Igor Angulo joined the squad after good numbers in Polish league. 

Meanwhile, Bengaluru also qualified for the playoffs last season but lost to Kolkata in the semifinal 3-2 aggregate. In last season, Bengaluru kept most clean sheets with 11 and the credit goes to their Indian goal-keeper Gurkeerat Singh Sandhu. They also signed Pratik Chaudhari from Mumbai, and he may feature in the center of defense alongwith Fran Gonzalez. 

In pre-season friendly, they lost to Mumbai 1-0 and Hyderabad held them for a 1-1 draw. On the other hand, Goa edged past last season’s runner-up Chennai 3-0 in pre-season friendly. In another game, they defeated and Jamshedpur 3-2. Their only defeat came against Hyderabad which might draw some question ahead of the opening clash.

  Two South Indian clubs, Chennai and Bengaluru, square off in the Friday encounter of Indian Football League 2020-21 . The irony is that both sides are entering into this encounter with a goalless draw in the previous outing. Team Preview  Previous season’s silverware winner Chennai failed to score a goal against Kerala to share the spoils in its second encounter. Csaba Laszlo’s side started the campaign with a 2-1 victory against Jamshedpur. The first-half strikes from Anirudh Thapa and Goncalves assured three points against the Red Miners. It was the first victory for Laszlo as the new head coach.  In matchweek three, Chennai dropped two points. Both sides fought hard in the first half but didn’t add a goal to the scoreline.   Bengaluru will take on the high-flying Northeast in the Tuesday encounter of the Indian Football League 2020-21 . Both sides are coming off a victory by keeping a clean sheet.  Team Preview  Bengaluru will meet North East in today’s Indian Football League encounter. Bengaluru finally opened its winning account after two consecutive draws. Sunil Chhetri scored his first goal of the season through a penalty. The Bengaluru skipper was in poor form in his first two games, and he looked better against Chennai.  In the previous outings, Bengaluru was not in its prime form.
