Newly formed Mohun Bagan will kick start the Indian Football League's new season with a clash against two-times runner-up Kerala at GMC Stadium. 


Team Preview 


Indian Football League 2020 starts in Goa with the season opener between Mohun Bagan and Kerala. Mohun Bagan recently won the title of prestigious I-League 2019-20, and they merged with the 3-times winner Atletico Kolkata. Kibu Vicuña will take charge of Kerala, who recently guided Mohun Bagan to the title. Kerala appointed three new captains, and Costa Nhamoinesu will lead the side in the season opener. Kerala would avoid repeating the last season’s form. 


In 2019-20, Kerala failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished at 7th in the table. In overseas players, Kerala would handover the cap to Facundo Pereyra, Costa Nhamoinesu, Bakary Koné, and Vicente Gómez. Jordan Murray will join the squad as an AFC player. 


On the other hand, Mohun Bagan will be under new manager Antonio Habas who helped Atletico to two titles in Indian Football League. Roy Krishna will lead the side this season, who was the top scorer last season with 15 goals. 


In the last edition, Atletico defeated Chennai 3-1 to add the third title. However, Mohun Bagan ended their I-League campaign with a title. They notched up 39 points and beat East Bengal with a margin of 16 points. Kerala also featured in four pre-season friendly games and defeated Jamshedpur and Hyderabad. They also played a goalless draw with Mumbai City, following a 3-1 loss to East Bengal FC. Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan didn’t play a pre-season friendly game, but they are still favourites to win this match.

  Two South Indian clubs, Chennai and Bengaluru, square off in the Friday encounter of Indian Football League 2020-21 . The irony is that both sides are entering into this encounter with a goalless draw in the previous outing. Team Preview  Previous season’s silverware winner Chennai failed to score a goal against Kerala to share the spoils in its second encounter.
