Odisha vs Hyderabad, Indian Football League 2020-21, Match Prediction 

 


Odisha will take on Hyderabad in the Monday encounter of Indian Football League 2020-21 at GMC Stadium. Hyderabad would try to change its fortune this season after a disappointing bottom finish in 2019-20, while, Odisha would battle out for the playoff berth this new season.  


Team Preview  


Odisha starts their Indian Football League campaign for 2019-20 to repeat their 2016 performance when they made it into semi-finals of the tournament. In 2019-20, Odisha won seven matches out of 18 and missed the playoff qualification. They have also appointed a new head coach for the new season, and Stuart Baxter will take charge this time. 


Odisha has signed Steven Taylor, who had played for Newcastle in Premier League, and can potentially help Odisha in the attack. Marcelinho will give them a positive vibe in the forward position. 


Their last season's top scorer Manuel Onwu will have a big responsibility along with Diego Mauricio, and Marcelinho in the attack. Baxter also recalled Cole Alexander, whom he has trained during his time in South Africa.  


The defense is a worrying sign for Odisha, and it doesn't match Baxter's approach, which had won matches with good defensive sides. Odisha conceded more than 30 goals in the league stage.  In pre-season friendlies, they lost against Mumbai by 3-2, courtesy of Marcelinho and Nandhakumar Sekar. In the next fixture, they lost to Chennai 2-1 with the only goal from Marcelinho.  


On the other hand, Hyderabad first needs to settle their things to feature amongst the top sides. Manuel Marquez has replaced Albert Roca as their new head coach. In last season, Hyderabad finished at the bottom with 10 points from 18 matches, winning just two. For 2020-21, Hyderabad has signed young Indian talents such as Manas Dubey, Ishan Dey, Akash Mishra, Rohit Danu, and Lalbiakhlua Jongte, who can boost their side.  


In foreign players, center-back Odei Onaindia will mark their impact. They got Aridane Santana from their Monday rivals, who scored nine goals for last season. Joel Chianese is also a great inclusion who was impressive in A-League for Perth. 


The Black outfit also appeared in four matches and found some positives. They edged past 2019-20's Shield winner Goa 4-2 and held 3rd placed Bangalore for a 1-1 draw.  The new signing Santana scored two goals in four matches in a Black outfit.

  Two South Indian clubs, Chennai and Bengaluru, square off in the Friday encounter of Indian Football League 2020-21 . The irony is that both sides are entering into this encounter with a goalless draw in the previous outing. Team Preview  Previous season’s silverware winner Chennai failed to score a goal against Kerala to share the spoils in its second encounter.   Bengaluru will take on the high-flying Northeast in the Tuesday encounter of the Indian Football League 2020-21 . Both sides are coming off a victory by keeping a clean sheet.  Team Preview  Bengaluru will meet North East in today’s Indian Football League encounter.
