Sergio Lobero’s Mumbai City is going better with every game, and this newly-formed unit is finding three-points with a stern attitude. Starting from the 1-0 defeat in the season-opener, Mumbai bounced back hard with four straight victories. Lobero would expect to continue the winning run on Monday. Mumbai will play the third game within eight days, and Lobero might try the bench in the starting lineup. 

In the previous outing, they overcame last season’s runner-up, Chennai, 2-1 at GMC Stadium. Despite the less possession and fewer chances than Chennai, the Islanders emerged victorious. Csaba Laszlo’s men got an early lead through Jakub Sylvestr’s strike in the 40th minute. The Islanders didn’t wait, and Hernan Santana found his name on the scoresheet. In the 75th minute, Fondre netted a winner to add a 4th consecutive win to Mumbai City. Mandar Rao Dessai will miss this fixture due to breaking the bubble. 

On the other hand, Jamshedpur have an edge over Mumbai City in head-to-head matches, winning three and losing two. The last encounter was won by Mumbai 2-1. Jamshedpur’s campaign is much better than the previous season. After losing the season opener to Chennai, they haven’t lost a single game. Even they edged past the strongest side of the season, ATK Mohun Bagan. 

In a previous game, the Red Miners appeared in a goalless draw. Jamshedpur failed to score a goal against a 10 men East Bengal side for 65 minutes. Jamshedpur will miss the services of Joyner Lourenco, Narender Gehlot, and Nick Fitzgerald tonight. Laldinliana Renthlei was sent off in the last game, and he will be unavailable for this encounter.
